Quilt Time
It was a quilt weekend for me and I made a pretty good dent in my unfinished projects. I sent String Bean to the Long Arm quilter and I’m nearly done binding the Bus tabletop quilt — 2 sides done 2 to go.
Now for the bigger challenge. Orange Crush. I believe I saved it from the stash bin. All work on it came to a stop during the family room renovation project and by then many gals were done with their OCs. The more I looked at finished versions the more I felt the orange was too much for my home so I reworked it and here is the new result.
Some gals who did not use orange gave their quilts different names…like Berry, Lime, or Creme Crush. What to call mine? Hmm. Not sure. I think it may look nice hanging in our exercise room which has sliding doors to our pool. The blue has the look of the water. The rust squares resemble wood. Hmmm maybe I should call it Wood and Water? Whatever. Doesn’t matter. I’d just like to call it done. Preferably in this life. Geez - I gotta start working on smaller projects, cuz speed is just not in my bones these days. Like it ever was.
OC Mystery - Solved?
Today after Bonnie released Step 5, I played with the layout. I’ve been waiting for another step to help me finalize my choice for the spinning stars. Tom picks the red and black. I have to agree although the other looks good too. But I usually prefer darker tone quilts so red and black it is. I best get busy sewing. Most of this layout is not sewn — just pieces laying side by side.
The pics show step 3 using just 3 fabrics. One being the multi-flowered pattern I bought for the backing. I have 22 of those complete. I may change the next 22 to 3 other fabrics… still thinking about that. Kinda leaning towards a purple, teel deep blue, and one of the lights already used. It could use another splash of purple. But - hey what about that orange.. a little bright - eh?
Anyway seems the mystery is easily solved now. This is my guess.
Looking at those pics this a.m. I realized the layout is upside down - well upside down since I don’t have all the blocks in place. Here’s a pic of it turned around. Since Bonnie gave us 4 corners in Step 5 I figure the blocks are set on point. I just show 1 corner here. Anyway - still just my guess.
