Hmmmmm

Thanks to my sister Nan - I think I have a solution to my ironing board dilemma.

This table

This is a reversible tabletop board from Polder.  I would use the rectangle side.  It is 17 X 24 —- the right width but too short.  However, two placed end to end would be perfect.  I figure I can brace them together and make a new cover to fit over the entire length.  Or maybe  leave them separate.  I only need the extra length when pressing the larger quilts…usually I’m just pressing pieces.  And I like Nan’s idea only have it out when I need it.  It’s slim enough to tuck in the closet.

I need the entire setup to be about 35-36” tall. The table is 31” with adjustable levelers on the legs and  the ironing board is 4.25” tall.  I think this will work.  Thanks Nan!

201966-1699685-thumbnail.jpgThe painting is almost done.  The walls were finished yesterday including the closet.  The latter reminded me of childbirth.   I hope to get the woodwork done today. Yep - more tan.  Actually it is the same color as Tom’s office.  I like this shade and it makes a good transition to the family room blue.

P.S. You can get the ironing board from Target.  Probably some other places too.  I could not find it available at a box store, but  Target will let you return it to any of their stores so I ordered one (as a test) to see if this idea works as good as it sounds.

Ready, Set, Paint

201966-1693444-thumbnail.jpgI decided to paint the sewing room.   I’ve been procrastinating on this project for months largely because of all the stuff I gotta move.  But ambition came to visit  yesterday and helped me get it all shoved into the cabana bath.   I even got 2 walls painted.

It won’t be blinding bright like my North Carolina sewing room….no I’m toning it down.  Quite a bit actually.  Mostly because I’m ready for a change plus I had to move the red chest in here after the family room fix up.  So no peach room in Florida.  I’m sure the next owners will thank me.  Although they may cringe at the cabana bath mural…but too bad.  I inherited it and so will they cuz I can’t bring myself to paint over it.  It’s actually very well done  it just doesn’t look as good in a photograph.   I do plan to change those stripe valances — those gotta go. Someday.

Back to the sewing room.  Stay tuned for the result.  Besides the new color,  I’m making drapes , rearranging the room, and adding in some new accessories - like these  modular pin boards from the Pottery Barn.  I can’t believe this set was only $25.  Seems cheap for the PB.  I figured I could recover them… we’ll see as they may look OK as is.

201966-1693523-thumbnail.jpgI’m still looking for a better ironing board solution.   Something unusual like this table.   I love the primitive look and the shelf on the bottom.  You see I don’t want my ironing board to look like an ironing board.  Silly I know.  This one though is just too short and I can’t think of a way to modify it without making it look dorky.  Anybody have any ideas — I’m all ears.
