OC - Still Spinning Stars

Step 2
You’d think I would be further along on this dang quilt.   Well I am, but not by much.

Step 4  Options
I finished Step 2 and last night experimented with Step 4 combinations.  I like the black but I’m concerned it may be too dark with  any of the Step 2 pieces.

Yea I know it’s possible none of these pieces will be attached to it, but if they are it will be too intense.  Or so I think.  So I came up with this light green alternative.

So fabric fairy - speak to me.  Soon.  Pretty Please.

Hello Lucy, I was wondering where you'd got to! I think you've just got to go with what you feel looks best in the block and not bother too much about everything else, just let it come as a surprise. If you don't like the finished quilt it will make a lovely present for someone. Are you getting used to being back at home now?

Congratulations on the quilt progress! Looks good to me. I think we all tend to be more critical of our own work than need be! Keep on stitchin', it will look great no matter what.

I think if you change a recommended dark fabric to a medium or light in a mystery quilt, you risk changing the look of the overall design. Do you know what I mean?
Bonnie recommended the dark fabric to be
half of all these half square triangles,
so I'm sure she has a reason for that.
And also...I really like your black block!

Thanks gals.... Kathy -- I agree on the recommended dark tones...It's a hard call for me. I think I'll wait for step 5. Perhaps it will shed some light on the mystery???
