OC Spinning Stars

Last night I worked ahead on the mystery quilt — a little bit.  Just as a test.  Step 4 starts assembling blocks from step 1 and I was curious - so I put together one to see how it would look.  It’s called spinning stars.  If you don’t see the star here I’m in big trouble  he he.

201966-1562866-thumbnail.jpgBonnie advised us to use solid looking prints for this step (the star portion), but I fell in love with this flowered black because it ties in the shade of red and the orange that is yet to come. There has to be some continuity to this or I cannot work on it.  I tried finding a black with a smaller print but they just looked entirely wrong to me.

After assembling this, I was tempted to throw in the towel on the entire project.  Again.  It’s pretty painful not knowing how these blocks will look with the others.  Makes me want to stop and redo some previous steps, but how crazy is that?  I’d never get done.  So I decided to soldier on no matter how putrid all this might look in the end.

I know the block doesn’t look perfectly square, but when you tug on it - it’s fine.  giggle  It will all come together somehow or not

Back to sewing …

I think it looks nice. However in the end if its not quite what you where trying for you can use it as a puppy blanky :). Puppy needs a quilt.

I love it. I think it is one of the prettiest yet, and I am anxious to see the finished project.

My blocks aren't all that square either, but I'm sure it'll sort itself out when the next bits are added. I know what you mean about not being in control of what's happening, but think of it as a real learning curve - and hide it between steps! I do like your colours though and think the flowery black works well so far.

Your block is so cute! You should be proud of it. I am sure the quilt will be worth the wait, all the mysteries I have done with Bonnie have been!

Well everyone is so kind and I appreciate your comments. I'll have to pass out sunglasses to all those who come to visit this quilt. I got so many colors going on in this it's crazy...

Giving it to the puppy is a good plan B !

Hi! Your OC block is beautiful! It is the best one I've seen yet...including the instructor's. Ooops, maybe I shouldn't have been so honest. Well, anyway, carry on. You've got a good thing going there!

Could it be that it is called a "Crazy Quilt" for a reason . . . .hummmmmm

It looks great! Keep going.

Or it should be called Crazy rather than mystery

I agree -- just soldier on. You're far too critical. And yes, they always come together in the end. Not always straight, not always how you thought it would be, but most of mine have made it through at least one wash!
Love the puppy idea. I had a King Charles Spaniel named Molly -- she was the sweetest!

Really like how your block looks. I think the black floral is perfect. I am curious about how this will all come together too.

So like Scarlett - I'll worry about that tomorrow. But did Scarlett ever fix anything that next day????
